Lee Jung Ha (27, birth name Lee Kwan Min) will take a break from acting to begin his mandatory military service. His agency, Namoo Actors, said he applied to the Republic of Korea Marine Corps and received notice of acceptance. The “Moving” actor will begin his military service at the Marine Corps Training Center on January 26, 2026.
On December 3, Namoo Actors added, “On the day of enlistment, since it is an occasion shared by many service members and their families, no separate official event will be held.”
They continued, “We deeply appreciate the unchanging love you send to Lee Jung Ha, and we ask for your warm support until the day he returns, having completed his service faithfully and grown even further.”
Lee Jung Ha will serve for 18 months, with an expected discharge date of July 25, 2027.
Because of the enlistment, he will not appear in Moving Season 2. Namoo Actors confirmed the conflict after reports said filming for the new season is due to begin in March 2026, which falls during his service period. Lee rose to stardom for his role as Kim Bong Seok in Disney+’s Moving. His breakout performance won him Best New Actor awards at the Blue Dragon Series Awards and the Baeksang Arts Awards.
His role in Moving required a major physical change. He gained about 30 kilograms (66 pounds) to play the levitating high schooler. He has joked that, after losing the weight, some people did not recognize him — including a friend of his sister who doubted he’d played the role.
The news creates a production challenge for Moving Season 2. The show’s producers have not announced how they will handle the character of Bong Seok.
Options include recasting, writing the character out temporarily, or using a story device to explain his absence. Some fans have asked the production to wait for Lee Jung Ha to return. Reports suggest Moving Season 2 could premiere in 2027, but nothing is official.
The 27-year-old actor himself has expressed hope to return. In a June interview he mentioned that the show’s creator, Kang Full, had said “season 2’s action will be much bigger and more exciting than season 1.”
Lee Jung Ah debuted in the 2017 web drama Heart Attack Warning. He later appeared in Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung, Run On, and Nevertheless. He is currently appearing in the ENA drama Heroes Next Door, set to conclude on December 16.
