Lee Sung Kyung to Play Princess Jasmine in Musical ‘Aladdin’

The Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo actress is reported to make her musical debut in Broadway’s hit, Aladdin.

As reported by Kmedia outlet on July 9, Lee Sung Kyung has been cast as Princess Jasmine in the upcoming production of the musical Aladdin, scheduled to take the stage in the latter half of this year.

This marks the first time she’ll appear in a musical 11 years since her debut.

The beloved Disney classic, Aladdin, comes to life on stage in a thrilling musical production, telling the tale of adventure, friendship, and romance in the enchanting kingdom of Agrabah. 

The show will delight audiences in two major cities: Seoul, at the Charlotte Theater from November 22, 2024, to June 22, 2025, and Busan, at the Dream Theater, starting in July 2025.

The Korean production of ‘Aladdin’, a Broadway hit with a 20 million audience worldwide, is set to premiere with high expectations, following its successful runs in the US, Japan, Spain, and the UK, with only The Lion King, Wicked, and Hamilton surpassing its box office success in the past decade.

Lee Sung Kyung has proven her acting prowess in various dramas including Call it Love, Dr. Romantic 3, Shooting Star, and more.

Lee Sung Kyung, a huge “Aladdin” fan, has repeatedly showcased her singing talent by performing A Whole New World. She landed the role of Princess Jasmine after auditioning, and her performance is highly anticipated.
