The 27-year-old rapper is gracing the cover of Vogue Korea’s October issue, promoting Louis Vuitton’s 2024 FW collection.
In a candid interview with Vogue Korea, She opened up about her journey as a soloist, her Hollywood acting debut, the pressures of having 100+ million IG followers, and her upcoming full-length album.
BLACKPINK’s Lisa on Taking Acting Lessons
BLACKPINK’s Lisa is making her Hollywood debut in The White Lotus season 3, scheduled to air next year. She has finished filming her part, as revealed by her on Instagram live.
Previously, the Money rapper revealed in an interview with Elle US she cried after getting the role in the show.
Since it is the first time she is venturing into the acting world, she shared that she was nervous and taking acting lessons to prepare for the role.
Lisa shared working hard to overcome her nervousness, “Since I have been dancing since I was young, even when acting, I kept looking for a beat. When exchanging lines with the other actors, I would pause for a beat before responding. When I tried not to keep the rhythm, my body felt awkward and I didn’t know where to put my hands. I worked hard with my acting teacher to overcome this.”
Lisa on the Pressure of Having a Massive Social Media Following
Lisa is the most followed K-pop artist on Instagram, with over 104 million followers. She was asked if she feels pressure sharing content on social media as a highly influential artist.
To which, the BLACKPINK rapper and dancer replied, “Although there is a burdensome side, if I think too deeply about every single post, it’s not enjoyable. I am trying to find a balance between caution and joy. Luckily, my parents are watching over me.”
‘ROCKSTAR’ TMI
Lisa’s concept photos for ROCKSTAR generated a lot of buzz due to her tanned look. While K-pop often faces criticism for promoting lighter skin tones, fans celebrated her for challenging these beauty standards.
Lisa shared a TMI while discussing “Rockstar”, her solo single released on June 28. Her tanned skin in the single’s concept photo was a natural tan she got while filming The White Lotus in Thailand.
Working with Rosalía
Lisa asked Rosalía to feature on the song New Woman after seeing her amazing performance at Coachella.
She shared her experience of working with the Spanish singer-songwriter on the song, saying, “Everything Rosalía did was incredibly intense and seemed perfectly prepared. Nothing was done carelessly. Even drinking water felt like a performance.”
She confessed to being worried about sharing the screen and they have not previously worked, “Fortunately, we also filmed the music video together. The energy she brought to the set was exceptional. She pushed all of us.”
Upcoming Full-length Album
After wrapping up filming for The White Lotus Season 3, Lisa is currently working on her debut full-length album, scheduled to be released later this year.
She described her upcoming full-length album as “Outside the box.” She added, “I want to break free from the mold and try various things.”
On another note, Lisa is set to headline the Global Citizen Festival in New York on September 28.
