Expectations are growing that BLACKPINK’s Lisa could become the next Disney princess. According to various sources, it has been revealed that the 28-year-old rapper-actor is being considered for the role of Rapunzel in Disney’s live-action version of Tangled.
The report also mentioned that Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson has been cast as Mother Gothel, the villain who locks Rapunzel in a tower. Disney has not made any official announcements yet; however, Lisa’s potential casting as Rapunzel is grabbing a lot of attention online.
Sources say the “Rockstar” rapper is seen as a strong candidate to help Disney attract global audiences after its Snow White remake, starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, underperformed. The live-action Tangled film is being directed by Michael Gracey, best known for The Greatest Showman.
Although the project was temporarily paused earlier this year, it has recently resumed development. Alongside Lisa, names like Florence Pugh and Sydney Sweeney have also been mentioned for the role of Rapunzel.
In online K-pop communities, fans are actively debating who fits the Rapunzel image best, comparing Lisa with other rumored candidates.
Lisa’s potential casting in Tangled live-action comes as she continues to expand her career beyond music. She made her official acting debut in February in the third season of HBO’s hit series The White Lotus, which was filmed in her home country, Thailand. Despite it being her first acting role, Lisa earned positive reviews for her natural and confident performance as “Mook.”
Building on that success, she signed with major Hollywood agency WME (William Morris Endeavor) in September, joining the same roster as stars like Emma Stone and Martin Scorsese. Lisa is also reportedly in talks for a Netflix film and another project alongside actor Ma Dong-seok.
Last year, she founded her own management label, LLOUD Co., and released her first solo album, Alter Ego, in 2025, which entered the top ten on the Billboard 200 chart.
Meanwhile, Lisa is currently occupied with BLACKPINK’s December comeback preparations and ongoing world tour, Deadline.
