Byeon Woo Seok has announced plans to take legal action against individuals responsible for malicious slander and insult.
On November 15, Varo Entertainment announced “We have determined that we can no longer tolerate malicious slander and insults related to Byeon Woo Seok in order to protect his rights, and we have decided to take legal action.”
“Based on our internal monitoring and tips from fans, we have confirmed the situation regarding heinous criminal acts related to our affiliated actor,” the agency stated.
Varo Entertainment expressed, “We have collected sufficient evidence materials regarding malicious posts and comments, including slander, defamation, insults, sexual harassment, and spreading false information, and have filed a complaint against the perpetrators through a law firm after legal review.”
The agency warned, “Posting and commenting on malicious slander, insults, and groundless false information is a clear criminal act and subject to legal action. We will not tolerate these criminal acts and will respond sternly, without any compromise or leniency, to ensure that those responsible receive due punishment.”
Byun Woo Seok’s starring role in the hit tvN drama “Lovely Runner,” which concluded in May, catapulted him to stardom. Following the success of the drama, his sold-out global fanmeeting tour drew massive crowds.
Unfortunately, his success was accompanied by a surge in malicious online slander. In response, his agency has launched a proactive campaign to counter online harassment.
