Kihyun discharged from the military today

MONSTA X’s Kihyun is back!

The K-pop idol has officially wrapped up his time in the armed forces.

Enlisted on August 22, 2023, he completed his mandatory military service on February 21. He was officially discharged from active duty at the 25th Infantry Division base in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province.

On February 21, Kihyun posted several photos on his social media, saying, “I have become a civilian,” while posing in military uniform.

Previously, at the discharge ceremony, the 31-year-old singer expressed his gratitude to fans, stating, “I served in the military diligently enough not to be ashamed in front of anyone, and I received many awards. I can proudly say that I can stand before MONBEBEs.”

Kihyun joins his MONSTA X group members Shownu, Minhyuk, and Joohoney, who have already completed their military service. Shownu fulfilled his duties as a social worker, while Minhyuk and Joohoney were discharged in October 2024 and January, respectively. The last member Hyungwon is expected to be discharged on May 13.

In addition, MONSTA X is set to celebrate a major milestone in 2025 – their 10th anniversary. With Kihyun back from military service and Hyungwon’s return scheduled for May, the group is ready to reunite and make some noise.

As a member of MONSTA X and a solo artist, Kihyun has already made a name for himself. Before enlisting, he released two solo albums, “VOYAGER” and “YOUTH”. Besides that, he has lent his voice to drama soundtracks like “The First Responders” and “Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938”.
