Nana Cast as Muse for T.O.P’s New Music Video

T.O.P and Nana

After a 13-year break from solo music, T.O.P (Choi Seung Hyun) is officially preparing to return. Former idol and actress Nana will be supporting his comeback as the female lead in his new music video.

As reported by MyDaily on February 9, Nana has already completed filming for the music video of T.O.P’s upcoming song, which is scheduled for release next month. The shoot took place sometime last year, and the project marks the first time Nana and T.O.P have worked together.

This appearance also marks her first music video role since 2024, when she starred in Baek Ji Young’s song “That’s Right.” The 34-year-old actress has recently focused more on acting projects rather than music-related appearances.

T.O.P previously hinted at his return on social media. On January 1, he posted the message, “A NEW ALBUM IS ON THE WAY,” alongside the phrase “ANOTHER DIMENSION.” This phrase is widely believed to be the title of his first-ever mini-album, with the upcoming song serving as the title track.

The release will be his first solo song since “DOOM DADA” in 2013, ending a 13-year gap in his solo music career. It will also be his first album release since announcing his departure from BIGBANG in 2023.

T.O.P debuted as a BIGBANG member under YG in 2006 and gained fame as both a rapper and actor. However, his career hit a roadblock in 2017 after he was caught smoking marijuana. This led him to step away from the entertainment industry and later announce his retirement.

He began his return in December 2024 by appearing in Netflix’s global hit “Squid Game 2.” His casting was controversial in South Korea, but director Hwang Dong Hyuk defended the decision. Hwang explained that the former BIGBANG member was chosen because he could understand the character’s “shame.” T.O.P later admitted the role was difficult and worried his “image might become permanently associated with it.”

While fans have hoped for a BIGBANG reunion, T.O.P has made it clear that he does not plan to return to group activities. He has said that too much time has passed and that he left the group in 2023 because “he had no right to stay.” He described that period as “lost time” filled with shame and self-blame.

Despite this, music has remained central to his life. T.O.P has shared that he feels most alive when working in the studio and revealed that he has created a lot of music over the years. He believes it is finally time to release that work to the public.

Meanwhile, Nana has multiple acting projects lined up with top Korean stars. Next, she will be seen in the movie Pamun, opposite Esom and Byun Yo Han. As for dramas, she has two major releases this year, Climax (with Ha Ji Won and Ju Ji Hoon) and The Scandal (with Son Ye Jin and Ji Chang Wook).
