NCT DREAM’s Jisung is stepping into the acting world with a role in Season 2 of the ENA drama Crash. The 23-year-old singer, who debuted with NCT DREAM in 2016, will play Ji Dae Se, the youngest member of the Traffic Crime Investigation (TCI) team.
His character is nicknamed the “Traffic Idol” for his tall stature and handsome appearance. Ji Dae Se is highly skilled in Taekwondo and Hapkido, yet carries inner pain.
Crash, which premiered in May 2024, is South Korea’s first drama centered on traffic crime investigations. It follows the TCI team as they track down “road villains,” including hit-and-run drivers and sophisticated insurance fraudsters.
Season 1 was a major success for ENA as it a nationwide rating of 6.6% for its finale. This makes it the channel’s second-highest-rated drama after Extraordinary Attorney Woo. Ratings steadily grew throughout the first season, starting from 2.2% for the premiere.
Jisung is no stranger to acting, having appeared as a child actor before his idol debut. He acted in the historical drama Deep-Rooted Tree (2011) and the film Unbowed. This role in Crash 2 marks his first acting project since joining NCT DREAM.
He will be joining the returning main cast, including Lee Min Ki as Cha Yeon Ho, a brilliant but socially awkward inspector. In addition, Kwak Sun Young plays Min So Hee, the physically skilled and persistent lieutenant of the TCI team, and Heo Sung Tae as Jeong Chae Man, the veteran team leader who founded the TCI unit.
Other original cast members include Lee Ho Chul as Woo Dong Gi, a car specialist and expert mechanic, and Moon Hee as Eo Hyeon Kyung, the youngest TCI member, highly skilled in martial arts.
The creative team for Crash Season 2 remains the same as the first season, with director Park Joon Woo and writer Oh Soo Jin returning. The series is produced by AStory. Filming for Season 2 is scheduled to begin in February, and an official release date has not yet been announced.
Crash Season 1 is available for streaming on Disney+ in select regions and Hulu in the United States. Fans of NCT DREAM and crime dramas alike are eager to see how Jisung, the “Traffic Idol,” brings Ji Dae Se to life.
