The new K-drama “Wife of a 21st Century Prince” is coming together, with Byeon Woo Seok and IU already set to star. Now, Noh Sang Hyun and Gong Seung Yeon are considering joining the cast.

“Wife of a 21st Century Prince” is a romance drama set in a fictional 21st-century constitutional monarchy in the Republic of Korea. The story follows a woman, a chaebol heiress, and a man who is the king’s son but feels trapped by his royal status. The drama was announced in December, with IU and Byeon Woo Seok confirmed to star as the leads.

On April 4, Xport News exclusively reported that “Love in the Big City” actor Noh Sang Hyun is being considered for a role in the upcoming MBC drama “Wife of a 21st Century Grand Prince”. Shortly after, his agency Echo Global Group confirmed that it is one of the several projects for which he has received a casting offer for the drama.

Noh Sang Hyun, whose star has been rising thanks to his roles in “Pachinko”, “Love in the Big City”, and “Genie, Make a Wish”, may soon join the cast.

Gong Seung Yeon is also in talks to join fellow actor and labelmate Byeon Woo Seok in the upcoming drama. VARO Entertainment confirmed today that she is positively reviewing an offer to star in the new MBC drama “Wife of a Century Prince”.

Gong Seung Yeon gained fame for her appearances in “The First Responders”, “Bulgasal: Immortal Souls”, “Are You Human Too?”, and more. She will be next seen in the Netflix series “Karma”, airing on April 4.

Director Park Yoon Hwa is on board to direct the drama. He has previously directed many hit Kdramas such as “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim”, “Alchemy of Souls”, “Love Your Enemy”, and “Because This is My First Life”.

Contrary to recent rumors, IU and Byeon Woo Seok are not departing from the drama. Reports had surfaced claiming the two leads were leaving due to creative differences with the network. However, their agencies have since denied these claims, labeling them as “groundless” and confirming that both actors will appear in the project.

Meanwhile, “Wife of a 21st Century Prince” is a joint production by Kakao Entertainment and MBC, with plans to broadcast in the latter half of 2025.
