Rowoon is now in the running to take on the lead role of Yeon Tae Oh in the upcoming drama “Shining”.

The part was previously offered to the “Serendipity’s Embrace” actor Chae Jong Hyeop. Chae was in talks to romance former IZ*ONE member Kim Min Ju in the new drama. However, he eventually declined the role and now makers have approached Rowoon to step in as the lead.

On January 21, FNC Entertainment told Newsen, ‘We are reviewing the new drama ‘Shining’.’

‘Shining’ is a  love story about two individuals who find their guiding light and unwavering faith in each other.

‘Shining’ is set to be helmed by acclaimed director Kim Yoon Jin, whose past credits include “Tell Me That Love Me” and “Our Beloved Summer”. Writer Lee Sook Yeon (“Happiness”, “A Piece of Your Mind”, “April Snow”) penned the script.

With Kim Min Ju set to star as the female lead, anticipation is building around the on-screen chemistry between her and Rowoon.

Former SF9 member Rowoon has established a successful acting career with roles in “Extraordinary You”, “Destined With You”, “She Would Never Know”, and more.

Kim Min Ju has proven his acting chops in “Connection”, “Hear Me: Our Summer”, “Tempted”, and more.

In related news, Rowoon is also set to star in the upcoming Disney+ original series “The Murky Stream”, slated for release this September.
