Serim, the original leader of K-pop group CRAVITY, revealed he was not informed in advance about Starship Entertainment’s decision to change the group’s leadership structure. In fact, all members were left in the dark about the label’s decision to appoint new leaders.
The 26-year-old idol shared his honest reaction in a Bubble message. Serim revealed that he was “a little upset” when he found out, and rightly so.
Starship Entertainment Removes Serim as CRAVITY Leader
On June 4, Starship made an unexpected announcement that left LUVITYs in shock. They announced the appointment of members Wonjin and Hyeongjun as the new leaders of CRAVITY. The statement reads
Based on five years of challenges and growth since their debut, CRAVITY is preparing to take on a new turning point.
Accordingly, the team’s identity has been reestablished, and the official logo and team name have also been redefined.
As part of this change, CRAVITY welcomes Wonjin and Hyeongjun as the new leaders.
We express our deep gratitude to Serim, who has led the team for a long time.
It is not new for the K-pop groups to change leaders halfway through their journey. Starting this year, TREASURE members Junkyu and Asahi replaced Hyunsuk and Jihoon as new leaders.
LUVITYs (CRAVITY Fans) are furious that this major leadership change was not discussed with the former leader Serim and group members before the public announcement.
Serim and CRAVITY Members Were Not Aware of Leadership Change
A couple of days after the bombshell announcement, Serim shared his thoughts about Starship Entertainment’s decision to change the group leader. This decision was taken before their upcoming comeback later this month.
Were you worried because I haven’t been in touch for a few days??
To be honest, I’m not even sure where to begin, but I needed some time to sort my thoughts before sharing this with you.
I know LUVITY will have many thoughts and concerns about this, and it might be hard to accept at first, but nothing will really change that much!
Actually, the members and I found out a little earlier than LUVITY. When I first heard about it, I’ll be honest—it felt so sudden that I was even a bit upset with the company. I had a lot of mixed emotions, and it wasn’t easy. But I completely trust Wonjin and Hyeongjun to do well. They’ve already taken on so much behind the scenes, even when LUVITY couldn’t see it, so I have a lot of faith in them.
So, I hope LUVITY can also trust and support Wonjin and Hyeongjun as the new leaders. Just like they’ve helped me before, I’ll now be supporting them from the side!! CRAVITY as a group isn’t changing at all—you all know how close we are! We’ll keep showing that strong bond, and we’re working hard to show LUVITYs new sides moving forward!!
And no, I’m not going anywhere!! Where would I even go? It’s not because of any scandal or because I’m struggling—it’s nothing like that! Think of it as a new challenge for CRAVITY to grow even more. That’s how I see it too!
Don’t think that the journey we’ve walked together disappears—that can never change. And thank you, LUVITY, for worrying about me. Your kind words and support have given me so much strength! I realized once again how much we’ve done well together these past five years!
Let’s keep loving and supporting each other, just like we always have. Got it?? I’ll keep striving to be a better Park Serim, and I’ll return all the love and support you give me!
I truly, deeply love you all. You’ve worked hard today—get some good rest!
