SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan to Begin His Mandatory Military Service as a Social Service Worker Today

SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan is stepping away from the spotlight for some time!

The 28-year-old singer will begin his alternative military service today, becoming the group’s first member to start serving.

He will report to the training camp today (September 26). After completing basic training, Jeonghan will fulfill his service as a social worker.  He underwent ankle surgery last year after sustaining the reason, therefore he is not enlisting as an active-duty soldier.

Instead of the usual 18-month active duty, Jeonghan will serve 21 months in the military as part of his alternative service as a social worker.

Previously, his agency kindly requested fans to avoid visiting the training center and alternative service location on his first day and enlistment day.

Ahead of the enlistment, the SEVENTEEN member took to Instagram to share multiple photos of himself with the caption, “See you again.”

He also shared a heartfelt post on Weverse, addressing fans, saying, “I will not lose my gratitude to CARATS who always send me a lot of love, and I will support the activities of the members with CARATS for the time being.

Jeonghan added, “Eat well and sleep well

I will be doing well, so don’t worry! CARATS, be healthy, take care, and see you again- I will come back safely!”

Due to his impending military service, Jeonghan will miss SEVENTEEN’s 12th mini-album promotions and world tour. However, he assured fans that he had prepared content in advance for CARATs to enjoy.

Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN began their military service era, with Jeonghan the first to enlist. The remaining members will enlist individually in the coming months.
