Shin Ye Eun is approached for another historical role after the success of The Murky Stream. The 28-year-old actor is approached for a webtoon adaptation, High School Queen.
Studio Dragon recently acquired the rights to the popular web novel and is in charge of planning and production. As reported by Sports Chosun on February 26, Shin Ye Eun has been cast as the female lead in the Naver webtoon adaptation High School Queen. Her agency, npio Entertainment, confirmed she received the offer and is positively reviewing it.
The story follows Kim Chung Ha, the queen of Joseon and the kingdom’s most formidable swordswoman. After her death, she is reincarnated as Park Da Jin, a seemingly ordinary high school student. When Da Jin encounters ruthless school bullies, the warrior queen inside her awakens. Using her Joseon martial arts skills, she delivers justice in a thrilling, action-packed way.
Shin Ye Eun will portray both Kim Chung Ha, the dignified and deadly queen, and Park Da Jin, her modern-day high school persona.
Studio Dragon, the production company, shared that they will “maintain the refreshing action of the webtoon.”They also plan to expand the story into movies and animation in collaboration with CJ ENM.
Shin Ye Eun rose to fame with roles in The Glory, Revenge of Others, Jeongnyeon: The Star is Born, and A Hundred Memories. Her talent was recognized when she won Best New Actress at the 2nd Blue Dragon Series Awards for her role in Revenge of Others.
Before High School Queen airs, viewers can see her in the ENA medical romantic comedy Doctor on the Edge, which airs in May. The drama also stars Lee Jae Wook, and she plays Yuk Ha Ri, a kind-hearted nurse with a mysterious past.
