Actress Song Ha Yoon has filed an additional lawsuit against the individual who first raised allegations of school violence against her. The case, which began in April 2024, continues to develop as both sides exchange legal actions and statements.
Song Ha Yoon Files Second Complaint Against Accuser
According to a report by Xports News on August 18, Song Ha Yoon filed another lawsuit on July 22 against the informant. The charges include defamation and obstruction of business by hierarchy under Korea’s Information and Communications Network Act.
Ji Eum Law Firm, representing Song Ha Yoon, confirmed to Xports News that an additional complaint has been filed against the accuser.
The actress has consistently denied the allegations since they first surfaced last year. Her legal team stated they have collected a large body of evidence, including notarized statements and public documents, proving the claims to be false.
Allegations and Response
The controversy began in April 2024, when JTBC’s program Scandal Supervisor featured testimony from Oh. During the program, he alleged that Song Ha Yoon, then a third-year high school student, slapped her repeatedly for 90 minutes without reason. Oh also claimed she was involved in other cases of school bullying and was forced to transfer schools.
Song’s side rejected these accusations, insisting that the actress neither assaulted Oh nor transferred schools because of violence. Witnesses, including a former homeroom teacher and classmates, also denied the claims.
Ongoing Dispute
Oh maintains his stance, denying that he fabricated or spread false information. Speaking to Xports News, he said,
It is no different from the perpetrator suing the victim. If she had just apologized, I wouldn’t have exposed it, but it’s Song Ha Yoon herself who is letting the situation turn worse.
Oh, who resides in the United States and has stated he is a U.S. citizen, says he has cooperated with the investigation by submitting written statements and materials. He expressed frustration at claims he was avoiding questioning, emphasizing,
I have already submitted sufficient written statements and supporting evidence, and I am fully reachable by the police while sincerely cooperating with the investigation as required. There is no reason to force an appearance at the cost of enormous time and money, and legally, there is no basis to compel the attendance of someone residing overseas.
Despite this, Korean police confirmed through the Ministry of Justice that Oh still holds South Korean citizenship. Authorities say the investigation will resume if he returns to Korea. In response, Oh has vowed to file his own lawsuit against Song Ha Yoon for false accusation once he is back in the country.
Song Ha Yoon’s Position
Song Ha Yoon’s representatives stress that the actress has endured significant damage from the allegations, which emerged shortly after her career-high success in tvN’s hit drama Marry My Husband. They said the claims caused “serious harm to the reputation she has built over 22 years” and left her in “extreme mental anguish.”
The law firm added that Song is also reviewing possible legal actions in the United States against third parties who helped spread the rumors.
Meanwhile, with her former agency contract having expired, the actress is preparing to return to the public eye with new projects. She promised fans that she would “repay their support with a more humble and mature image.”
