Song Hye Kyo and Gong Yoo

Song Hye Kyo and Gong Yoo have been cast for a period drama, penned by renowned writer Noh Hee Kyung. Since big names are associated with the drama, it is gaining a lot of attention and interest from Kdrama fans.

It seems like the production crew is going all out to ensure that this upcoming period drama, featuring Gong Yoo and Song Hye Kyo, matches the caliber of the lead actors.

As reported by OSEN on April 25, the latest project penned by writer Noh Hee Kyung is a 20-24 episode drama depicting the evolution of the Korean entertainment industry. It begins with the 8th U.S. Army post-Korean War era and spans into the 1980s.

The drama is a collaboration between Studio Dragon and writer Noh Hee Kyung’s agency GTIST.

For this new drama, the estimated cost per episode is expected to be around 3 billion won, with the total production cost hovering around 80 billion won. Additionally, there are ongoing talks about releasing it on an OTT platform.

Last year, the Disney+ original series Moving aired 20 episodes with a budget exceeding 50 billion won. It gained international acclaim and was loved by many for its thrilling plot.

Given that writer Noh Hee Kyung’s upcoming period drama features lengthy episodes, production costs are expected to exceed the budget of the hit show, Moving.

Given that the final script has not been unveiled, there remains a chance for adjustments. Studio Dragon mentioned to OSEN that due to the project being in the early planning phase and lacking a complete script, the specific episode count and production budget are yet to be finalized.
