Rumor has it that Jo Yu Ri pocketed a whopping 4.2 billion won for her appearance in ‘Squid Game 2’! But is there any truth to this jaw-dropping claim? The K-pop star is finally speaking out to set the record straight.

Fresh from the global success of Netflix’s ‘Squid Game 2’, the 23-year-old idol sat down with Star News for an exclusive interview on January 9.

Yu Ri was asked about the rumored 4.2 billion won ‘appearance fee of 4.2 billion won, “Thank you for asking that question. I also read that article for the first time and had a good laugh.”

She continued, “I cannot reveal the exact appearance fee, but 4.2 billion won is an amount that I have never thought of or touched before. That is a rumor.”

In “Squid Game 2”, Jo Yu Ri portrayed player 222 Jun Hee, a pregnant woman who loses money due to her former boyfriend Myung Gi (Im Siwan), a coin investment expert and YouTuber. Jun Hee participates in a game, which leads to a reunion with Myung Gi.

She was undoubtedly one of the standout characters from the season and worked hard to prepare for the role. Despite playing a pregnant woman, she lost weight for her role. 

The former IZ*ONE member surprisingly revealed that she intentionally did not gain weight and lost 4-5 kg during filming.

She explained that she normally weighs around 45-46 kg when she is not actively working and loses 4-5 kg when she has important projects.

On the work front, Jo Yu Ri is in talks for a new thriller, highlighting the dark side of the idol industry.
