Sungmin, a longtime member of the K-pop group Super Junior, has officially left SM Entertainment after two decades with the agency. His departure marks the end of a significant chapter in both his career and the group’s history.

On April 30, SM Entertainment announced his departure from the agency and wished him well for future endeavors.

On the other hand, he has joined Total Set Entertainment, as announced by Sungmin himself in an official Instagram post moments ago.

Hello, this is Sungmin. In December 2000, I stepped into the SM audition room filled with courage and dreams. As a 3rd-year middle school student back then, I’ve now come to the end of my long journey with SM.

For me, SM was like a life teacher, family, and friend. The 20+ years we spent together were a truly great gift to me. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has been with me during this time.

Now, I’m standing at the starting line again, with new dreams. I’ll walk sincerely on the given path with the Total Set Entertainment family, without losing my original intention.

With heartfelt songs and performances, I’ll repay your support. I’ll move forward step by step, deeply and firmly. Thank you.

The 39-year-old singer debuted with Super Junior in 2005 as part of the original 13-member lineup. Over the years, he contributed to the group’s success with hits like “Sorry, Sorry,” “Mr. Simple,” and “Bonamana.” Beyond group activities, he pursued solo endeavors, including musical theatre and TV appearances.

His relationship with SM Entertainment spanned 20 years, making him one of the agency’s longest-tenured idols before his exit.

Sungmin debuted as an actor in the 2005 MBC drama “Sisters of the Sea”. He later became an idol with the group but scaled back his activities after marrying musical actress Kim Sa Eun in 2014. Recently, he explored a new path as a trot singer and welcomed a son with his wife in September last year. His exclusive contract with SM Entertainment has now ended and has signed with a new agency Total Set to represent him.
