Taemin Played Coachella 2026 Like It Was His Own Private Album Listening Party

Taemin at Coachella 2026

There’s a particular kind of pressure that comes with being “the first.” Every movement, every song choice, every outfit becomes a statement. The 32-year-old singer became the first Korean male solo artist to deliver a full solo set at Coachella 2026.

He delivered a 50-minute set at Mojave Stage starting at 7:30 p.m. PDT on April 11 (which was technically April 12 in Korea, because time zones are the eternal enemy of the K-pop fan). This year, KATSEYE and iconic K-pop group BIGBANG are also performing at the festival.

Users watching Coachella’s YouTube livestream experienced a very specific kind of glitch as he launched into “Sexy In The Air.” Millions of viewers were staring at a frozen screen, convinced their Wi-Fi had finally given up on them. It hadn’t. A full 68 seconds of audio chaos right as the SHINee member was about to hit the climax of “IDEA.”

Being the first Korean male solo to perform at Coachella comes with a certain amount of pressure, the weight of being first, of setting the bar. Taemin, who has been doing this for 18 years, handled it the way he handles everything else: by making sure his shirt was drenched in sweat within the first three songs and pretending the pressure didn’t exist.

The setlist included a mix of familiar and completely unknown songs. This was a bold move for a festival crowd that typically just wants to hear the hits they know from TikTok. Taemin opened with “Sexy in the Air,” then moved into “WANT,” followed by an unreleased track, “MOVE,” and “GUILTY.”

“Heaven,” “Advice” (which saw him seated at a grand piano), and then “IDEA” rounded out the core of the set. The real headline here is that he sang SIX unreleased songs. He casually previewed half an album’s worth of material at Coachella 2026.

Between songs he chatted warmly with the audience, saying, “Wassup, Coachella — my name is Taemin, I’m so happy to see all of you here.” He started in an all-white ensemble that looked almost angelic under the stage lights.

Midway through, he disappeared briefly and reemerged in a yellow shirt paired with a khaki-beige suit. It was a subtle costume change by Coachella standards (nobody was emerging from a cocoon or riding a mechanical bull), but it set the stage for the second act.

Right after Taemin wrapped at 8:20 p.m., he met British singer PinkPantheress on stage. She has long called Taemin her SHINee bias and openly gushed about being a huge fan.

He closed the set with a few words and a lot of sweat, telling the crowd simply, “I’ve been waiting for this moment. I’m glad to share it with you.

Meanwhile, Taemin returns to the Mojave Stage for Weekend 2 on April 18.
