THE BOYZ member Sangyeon is gearing up to take a break from the spotlight as he prepares to begin his military service.
The 26-year-old K-pop star will be the first member of the group to enlist in the military.
On January 23, THE BOYZ’s new agency ONE HUNDRED released a statement to announce his military enlistment. The statement reads,
“Sangyeon applied to join the Army Military Band and received final acceptance notification from the Military Manpower Administration on January 23. His enlistment date is scheduled for March 17.
On the day of his enlistment, no separate events will be held to ensure safety and prevent confusion. This decision prioritizes the soldiers and families enlisting together, so we ask for your understanding. We also respectfully ask fans to refrain from visiting.
Sangyeon plans to create good memories with fans until his enlistment. We ask for your unwavering love and support as Sangyeon fulfills his national defense duty and returns with improved health.”
Meanwhile, Sangyeon debuted as a member of THE BOYZ in 2017 and has been actively promoting with the group since then. Following the expiration of their contract with IST Entertainment on December 5, 2024, THE BOYZ transferred to a new agency, ONE HUNFRED.
