Sunwoo has spoken out again to clarify the Airpod incident and address the backlash!
THE BOYZ member has opened up about the controversy surrounding his behavior after being called out by After School member and actress Nana.
She publicly criticized his behavior by commenting on the viral video saying, “Someone needs to be scolded.” The video showed a bodyguard picking up the AirPods and giving them to him which fell while Sunwoo was going to the elevator. The Kdrama actress and netizens criticize him for taking the AirPods without bowing his head, which is considered rude.
THE BOYZ fans criticized Nana ruthlessly for making a mountain out of a molehill and running his birthday with unnecessary criticism. They argued that she remained tight-lipped on serious controversies surrounding her colleagues, hinting at Kim Soo Hyun’s underage and grooming dating scandal involving the late Kim Sae Ron.
On April 13, Nana addressed the growing criticism, however did not apologize for her words. In fact, she criticized Sunwoo for not moving and picking up the AirPods himself. Nana expressed a firm stance and shared that she would have said the same thing if he did something like that when she was next to him.
Earlier, in his first explanation, Sunwoo shared that his haters are wasting their lives by looking for ways to tear him down. He hoped they would continue to live an unhappy life with a miserable lens. Many considered his reaction harsh and criticized him for his rude remarks.
In response to Nana’s latest statement and public reaction, Sunwoo has offered another explanation, stating,
“But really, I would never do that behind people’s backs, and there were fans in front of me, so why would I go crazy and tell the security guard to pick up my Airpods? I’m so ‘shocked’ that I looked like that, and I was trying to reflect on myself about that, but I’m getting so much hate for a few seconds of video and people leaving mean comments. It’s scary how people can be. I’d rather just keep my mouth shut and let it go… I’m going to say it because I’m going to rot if I don’t. Even some The B (The Boyz fandom) might not like this, and I’m really sorry.”
He said, “And a promise to The B. I will work harder to show my actions, so that I won’t be misunderstood as being arrogant and bad, and so that The B won’t have to make these explanations, and so that even if you look at me briefly, you’ll think, ‘He’s a gentleman.’ I really think this is something I need to keep fixing in the future!
Anyway, I’m used to being called names, so really, don’t worry about me! I’m really okay! They might be uncomfortable, but The B who have known me for years know me better than those who saw me for a few seconds.”
Fans have mixed reactions to the controversy, with both sides being criticized. Netizens left comments like
“People rush to judge, but he is one of the few genuinely kind idols”
“Is he gentle?”
“Bro stop playing the victim card ain’t nobody was calling you names unlike your fans to Nana tho”
“How can someone is being hated for dropping a pair of AirPods, K-pop isn’t real”
“TBH I find him so annoying sorry”
“He’s such a pick me”
“He didn’t yell at the security but the internet is yelling at him”
“The hate he is getting is so ridiculous”
