Actress Cha Joo Young, best known for her role in the Netflix hit series The Glory, has announced a temporary break from all official activities due to health reasons. Her agency, Ghost Studio, made the announcement on January 25, 2026.
The 35-year-old actress has been dealing with persistent, recurring nosebleeds (epistaxis). After thorough medical examinations, her doctors advised that surgery could not be delayed.
She recently underwent an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) procedure and is now in a stage of recovery that requires careful observation.
Ghost Studio stated, “She is currently at a stage where post-surgery recovery and monitoring are required. We ask for your understanding, as she will be unable to participate in official schedules, including promotional activities for her projects, during the recovery period.
The agency apologized for any concern caused by the schedule adjustments to her schedule. They promised that she would return to her activities in good health once she had received sufficient treatment.
Despite her hiatus, Cha Joo Young will still appear in two major upcoming projects. Her film Sister is set to premiere on January 28. In the thriller, she plays So Jin, a young woman kidnapped by her sister, Hae Ran, played by Jung Ji So, and held for a large ransom. Her other movie, Land, with Kim Hye Yoon and Yum Jung Ah will also come out this year.
Cha Joo Young is also confirmed for the ENA drama series Climax, scheduled for release later in 2026. The drama includes popular actors Nana, Ju Ji Hoon, and Ha Ji Won.
She gained fame for her role as Choi Hye Jeong in The Glory, which aired on Netflix in 2022-2023. More recently, she appeared in the historical drama The Queen Who Crowns.
