‘Veteran 2’ Starring Jung Hae In and Hwang Jung Min Attracted 490,000 Viewers on Opening Day

The sequel we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived, and it’s packing a punch!

Director Ryu Seung Wan’s film Veteran 2 (I, The Executioner), has taken the top spot at the box office on its first day of release. The film’s strong opening sets it up for a competitive run.

The Korean Film Council’s box office data reveals that Veteran 2 starring Jung Hae In and Hwang Jung Min attracted 497,558 viewers on its opening day, September 13. As of its second day, the film’s cumulative total now stands at 516,054.

Veteran 2 is expected to maintain its box office momentum, with a strong ticket reservation rate of 75.4% as of 9:30 AM on September 14. With around 600,000 viewers already secured, the film is likely to cross the 1 million threshold.

Veteran 2 is one of the most eagerly awaited films of the second half of 2024 thanks to the appearance of Jung Hae In and Hwang Jung Min. In addition, the sequel is coming out 9 years after the release of the original film.

It was invited to the esteemed Cannes Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival before its domestic release.

Veteran 2 is a gripping action crime thriller that follows the intense investigation of a serial killer. 

The story follows seasoned Detective Seo Do Cheol (Hwang Jung Min), known for his unwavering dedication to justice, alongside Park Sun-woo (Jung Hae-in), the youngest and most ambitious detective in the violent crimes unit, as they engage in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase.
