IST Entertainment has lost another talented K-pop group after THE BOYZ’s departure last year.

After five successful years together, Weeekly and IST Entertainment have officially parted ways. The exclusive contract between the two parties has come to an end, and fans are wondering what’s next for the K-pop girl group.

On February 26, IST announced through an official statement on the 26th, “After a long discussion with the Weeekly members (Lee Soojin, Monday, Park Soeun, Lee Jaehee, Zoa, and Jihan) regarding their future activities, we have agreed to terminate the exclusive contract, respecting each other’s opinions.”

The label added, “We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the members who have been with us as affiliated artists and to the fans who have been with us on this warm and shining journey. We ask for your continued love and support for the members as they continue to actively work in various fields.”

Weeekly’s leader, Soojin, took to Weverse to share her heartfelt thoughts on the group’s contract termination with the agency.

Initially, Soojin apologized to their fans, Daileee, for the sudden announcement. She expressed her gratitude for the unconditional love and support they have received since their debut.

She looked back on their debut journey and thanked the members for their unwavering support and kindness. Now, fans are curious to know if they will continue as a group or focus on solo projects.

On the other hand, THE BOYZ, previously under IST, is continuing their journey as a group with a new label ONE HUNDRED, and has already announced their comeback.

Fans are keeping their fingers crossed that Weeekly will stay together as a group and continue making music under a new agency.

Weeekly debuted in 2020 as a seven-member group and quickly made a name for themselves with songs like “After School” and “Good Day”. They had a standout first year and won numerous rookie awards. However, in 2022, member Jiyoon left the group due to health issues, and Weeekly continued on with six members. The group made their last comeback in July 2024 with the 6th mini-album “Bliss” and the title track “Lights On”.
