aespa’s Winter is taking a stand against the wave of malicious comments she has been receiving. This comes after new dating rumors with BTS’s Jungkook began circulating again. On December 10, SM Entertainment released a firm statement announcing strong legal action against anyone spreading harmful posts about the idol.
According to SM, they have been receiving continuous reports through their “KWANGYA 119” system—and through their own monitoring—that Winter has been targeted with serious online abuse. This includes sexual harassment, defamation, insults, invasion of privacy, and even deepfake content.
SM shared that the most severe posts were found on major online communities and social media platforms. These portals include DC Inside, Nate Pann, Instiz, Theqoo, Instagram, X, and YouTube.
They explained that many of these posts were “maliciously intended to publicly slander the artist,” and that they are now preparing to expand their legal action.
SM confirmed that criminal complaints and civil claims are already in progress against individuals who posted harmful content about aespa on these platforms.
The company emphasized, “We are also securing large amounts of evidence regarding the creation of harmful rumors, repeated spread of false information, sexually harassing posts, mockery, and the production or distribution of distorted content on personal social media accounts, online communities, and anonymous forums.”
They also warned the public to be careful not to get involved in anything illegal or unpleasant.
The renewed hate follows a fresh round of dating rumors linking Winter and Jungkook. These rumors—which first began in 2023—resurfaced after fans pointed out “matching items,” like similar phone cases or tattoos. Neither SM nor HYBE previously addressed the rumors, and the silence fueled even more speculation and backlash.
Unfortunately, the harassment has not only targeted Winter. Jungkook has also become a victim of severe online abuse. Some malicious commenters even left disturbing messages on the Instagram account of his dog, Bam—going as far as wishing harm on him and his family.
On the work front, BTS prepares for their massive March 2026 comeback and world tour. Meanwhile, aespa is occupied with their ongoing world tour SYNK: aeXIS LINE and year-end performances.
