SBS has finally confirmed that Yoo Yeon Seok and Esom will star in its new Friday–Saturday drama Law Firm of Shinyirang. It is a supernatural legal series scheduled for the first half of 2026. It combines fantasy, mystery, and humor, and follows SBS’s strong lineup of refreshing legal dramas like One Dollar Lawyer and The Judge from Hell.
Law Firm of Shinyirang follows an unusual but touching journey. The story centers on lawyer Shin Yi Rang, played by Yoo Yeon Seok, who suddenly gains the ability to see ghosts after he opens a law firm inside a house previously used by a shaman.
Yi Rang looks dependable from the outside, yet he is actually timid and clumsy. His personality shifts completely whenever a ghost client with an unfair story asks for help. He becomes determined to fight for them no matter what.
A strange and funny twist happens because of something called “possession.” When Yi Rang takes on a ghost client’s case, the client’s personality, memories, emotions, and habits slip into his body. He ends up transforming into totally different people, sometimes older, younger, louder, softer, and even of a different gender.
His voice, tone, facial expressions, and behavior all change depending on the ghost he is “possessed” by. The team behind the drama says viewers can look forward to many entertaining and surprising moments.
Esom plays Han Na Hyun, an ace lawyer at a major law firm who has built her entire career on winning. She is logical, intense, and obsessed with results. Her perfect success rate and fierce work ethic pushed her to the top of the legal world.
Her life changes the moment she meets Yi Rang. Because of him, she experiences her first loss in court, something she has never faced before. She doesn’t believe in his ghost-seeing ability and initially distrusts him.
However, his sincerity toward his clients and the bizarre incidents unfolding around her slowly make her reconsider her beliefs.
The heart of the story comes from the partnership between these two completely different lawyers. Yi Rang listens directly to ghost clients and sometimes enters their memories and discovers clues no one else can find. Na Hyun organizes those clues through judgment and legal reasoning to build a solid case.
Esom continues to build an impressive filmography. Her recent and upcoming works include LTNS, Black Knight, Taxi Driver, Single in Seoul, Kill Bok Soon, and a special appearance in Escape in 2024.
