YoonA and Ahn Bo Hyun Starrer ‘Pretty Crazy’ Release Date, Plot, Trailer, and Cast Lineup

YoonA and Ahn Bo Hyun in a still from movie 'Pretty Crazy'

One of Korea’s most talked-about rom-coms this summer, Pretty Crazy, is finally ready to hit screens next month. With a star-studded cast led by Girls’ Generation’s Im YoonA and rising actor Ahn Bo Hyun, the film promises an unusual mix of romance, mystery, and supernatural chaos, all packed into an ordinary apartment building that hides anything but ordinary secrets.

On July 7, CJ ENM released the trailer along with the release date. The filming was wrapped in August 2022 and the first official poster was released at the Cannes Film Festival in May last year.

Now, as the trailer teases, YoonA and Ahn Bo Hyun are ready to collide in a story about late-night secrets, double lives, and a romance that unfolds when the rest of the city is asleep.

Pretty Crazy Release Date

Directed by Lee Sang Geun and YoonA, Pretty Crazy starring YoonA and Ahn Bo Hyun will hit theaters on August 13, 2025. It is perfectly timed to draw summer moviegoers looking for a fresh romantic comedy before the season ends. The film is penned and helmed by director Lee Sang Geun, who reunites with YoonA after working on the movie Exit in 2019.

Plot: What Happens at 2 a.m.

At the heart of Pretty Crazy is Gil Goo (Ahn Bo Hyun), an ordinary young man who’s a bit of a loner. He lives alone in a small apartment and works an unremarkable office job by day. Life is quiet until Jeong Seon Ji moves into the unit below him. Seon Ji is the picture of a dream neighbor: polite, stunning, and kind-hearted. But there’s a catch — when the clock hits 2 a.m., she transforms into a different person entirely, someone she doesn’t even remember being.

When Gil Goo accidentally witnesses Seon Ji in her other form, bold, reckless, and borderline dangerous, he finds himself drawn into her secret. He becomes her unexpected protector, staying up all night to watch over her and clean up the chaos she leaves behind.

Cast and Characters

YoonA as Jeong Seon Ji

By day, Seon Ji is calm, almost shy — the type of person who smiles sweetly at neighbors and waters her plants on the balcony. But once night falls, her hidden side surfaces. Her ‘other self’ is brash, fearless, and sometimes aggressive, roaming the streets with no memory of what she does.

Since stepping into acting in 2007, the SNSD member has taken on many memorable roles over the years. Her notable acting credits include King The Land, Big Mouth, The K2, and more.

Ahn Bo Hyun Stars as Gil Goo

Gil-goo is the definition of a kind but clueless good guy. He is dependable yet too soft-spoken to say what he really wants. When he discovers Seon Ji’s secret, he takes it upon himself to keep her safe, partly out of fascination, partly because he can’t bring himself to walk away.

Ahn Bo Hyun has proven his acting skills in dramas such as Flex x Cop, See You in My 19th Life, Yumi’s Cells 2, and more.

Sung Dong Il as Jeong Jang Soo

Sung Dong Il plays the deeply protective father of Seon Ji and is suspicious of Gil-goo’s intentions. He is afraid someone will take advantage of his daughter’s strange condition.

Sung Dong Il is known for his roles in Hwarang, The Tale of Lady Ok, The Art of Negotiation, and more.

Supporting Cast

Pretty Crazy Trailer

The recently released teaser trailers set the tone perfectly. These teasers show Gil Goo’s quiet apartment life before dropping viewers into Seon Jii’s late-night chaos, chases, awkward encounters in convenience stores, and hilariously tense scenes where Gil tries to keep her secrets hidden.

Kim Seon Ho Was Originally Cast as the Lead Actor

Pretty Crazy went through a few production hiccups, including a lead actor change early on. However, filming was wrapped smoothly under director Lee Sang Geun’s playful yet sensitive touch.

Kim Seon Ho was originally cast as the lead in Pretty Crazy, but after his ex-girlfriend accused him of pressuring her to have an abortion, he stepped down from the project. The controversy led to huge public backlash, with brands and shows cutting ties, so the film’s production team decided to replace him to avoid more negative attention. His role later went to Ahn Bo Hyun, who stepped in as the new male lead.

Mark your calendar for August 13 when Pretty Crazy hits movie theaters after a long wait.
