In a recent court ruling, South Korean YouTuber Taldeok Camp has been found guilty of defamation.

The infamous YouTuber, also known as Sojang, has released several hate and defamatory videos about K-pop idols such as IVE’s Wonyoung, BTS Jungkook, V, and more.

In a recent verdict, the Incheon District Court sentenced Park, the operator of Taldeok Camp, to a two-year suspended prison sentence, three years of probation, and a fine of approximately 200 million won for charges of defamation and insult.

The court stated, “Defamation causes irreparable harm to the victims, and therefore, it is necessary to impose strict penalties. The defendant has repeatedly defamed famous celebrities and posted provocative content on their YouTube channel, earning significant profits, which reflects the severity of their crime.”

Previously, the YouTube channel operator has been formally charged with defamation for uploading malicious YouTube videos that slandered several celebrities, including Jang Wonyoung, between October 2021 and June 2023.

In May 2024, the court ruled in Wonyoung’s favor and ordered Sojang to pay 100 million won to her. EXO’s Suho, Kang Daniel, aespa, Jungkook, V, and other celebrities have all filed lawsuits against Sojang for releasing false and derogatory content about them.

It has been revealed that she generated approximately 250 million won in revenue by creating and publishing malicious videos defaming celebrities on her YouTube channel.

Wonyoung and her agency Starship Entertainment were the first ones to take legal action against Taldeok Camp, and many K-pop stars followed suit.

Sojang, a YouTube channel that was shut down in June 2023, had a history of stirring up controversy with its negative content about celebrities and idols. It often made unsubstantiated claims and spread rumors without solid evidence.
