K-pop made a strong showing at the VMAs, with several artists taking home awards.

MTV Music Video Awards 2024 was held at USB Arena in Elmont, New York on September 11 (local time).

Many K-pop artists were nominated this year including Jungkook, SEVENTEEN, BLACKPINK’s Lisa, LE SSERAFIM, NewJeans, and more.

Lisa, who earned the most nominations, became the first K-pop soloist to perform at VMAs. In addition, LE SSERAFIM performed at the pre-show as well as attended the award ceremony.

Best K-pop – Lisa from BLACKPINK

Best Group – SEVENTEEN

Push Performance of the Year – LE SSERAFIM

Last year, TXT, Stray Kids, and Jungkook won major awards at the VMAs. This year, Jungkook was nominated for Best K-pop and Best Collaboration for Seven (ft. Latto). While Lisa won Best K-pop, the Best Collaboration award went to Taylor Swift and Post Malone for their song Fortnight.

NewJeans and SEVENTEEN were the only K-pop finalists for the Best Group category, and ultimately, SEVENTEEN came on top.
