K-pop meets Japanese cinema as 2PM’s Chansung joins forces with Miyama Ryouki and Kubo Fumika in an exciting new film project.
Director Eiji Uchida’s upcoming film, Hold Me Tighter Than Anyone, is set to hit theaters nationwide in February 2025.
On August 5, the movie’s lead cast was announced which included Miyama Ryouki, Kubo Fumika of Nogizaka46, and Hwang Chansung of 2PM.
Adapted from Shindo Fuyuki’s novel, Hold Me Tighter Than Anyone gained popularity as a deeply emotional pure love story. In the film, Miyama Ryouki from BE:FIRST portrays Mizushima Ryojo, a picture book writer with OCD who wears plastic gloves due to his condition, making physical contact with his partner challenging.
Kubo Fumika from Nogizaka46 plays Kirimoto Tsukina, a bookstore clerk who also struggles with physical intimacy in her relationship with understanding towards Ryojo’s condition but is conflicted about her own emotions.
The plot thickens as Chansung enters as Lee Jaehong, a man who remains emotionally distant even when Tsukina tries to connect with him.
Lee Na-won, a skilled screenwriter with a background in Tokyo University of the Arts, penned the script for Hold Me Tighter Than Anyone.
Chansung also commented on landing a role in a Japanese film saying, “When I received the offer, I was very thrilled because I thought it might be the opportunity for me to continue my career as an actor in Japan. I was offered such a wonderful project, so more than anything, I was filled with a desire to give my best.”
