Extreme fan behavior continues to be a concern in the K-pop industry, with TXT’s Taehyun being the latest idol to speak out against sasaengs.
On June 29, the 22-year-old took to Weverse to share a concerning encounter with Sasaeng who had altered the in-flight meals of the group members, but the post has since been deleted.
Taehyun shared a post on Weverse stating, I was about to go back to Korea after a fun fansign with MOA, but someone pre-booked the members’ seats and changed the in-flight meal. It’s okay as we just can not eat it, but I can’t understand why they do that and just what kind of system allows one to change someone else’s [meal] like that.
To alleviate concerns and reassure fans, he shared We ate before boarding, so don’t worry.
Back on June 18, HYBE announced that they have been cracking down on individuals selling ticket info.
The privacy breach caused by this leak led to sasaengs exploiting it to switch idols’ seats, alter their in-flight meals, and snap photos of them asleep.
An inquiry commenced in the latter part of 2023, prompting HYBE to establish a dedicated task force to oversee their actions and pursue legal measures.
Numerous idols have recently been vocal about the troubling behavior of sasaengs. Taehyun’s labelmate, BTS’ Jin was sexually harassed by a fan at an event when she forcibly tried to kiss him.
On the work front, TXT is set to make a Japanese comeback in July.
