SM Entertainment has some exciting debuts planned for the latter half of the year and early 2025!
After introducing the first British K-pop group Dear Alice, the label announced the debut of its first virtual girl group Nævis in 3Q of 2024. In addition, a new boy group will make their debut in the first half of 2025.
SM Entertainment and TV Chosun have partnered to launch a new trot idol group. The two companies signed a joint production agreement at SM’s headquarters in Seoul on August 12.
‘T-5’ is a unique project featuring a 5-member group consisting of talented individuals from various backgrounds, including winners of ‘Mr. Trot’, K-pop trainees with global experience, and skilled actors.
Regarding the debut of the trot group, CEO Lee Seung Soo shared, “SM is expanding its territory. We will present new music by combining K-pop and trot.”
Acclaimed composer Jo Young Soo, who previously worked on the successful ‘Miss Trot’ and ‘Mr. Trot’ shows, has been brought on board to oversee music production for the upcoming trot idol group.
The upcoming trot idol group is set to be broadcast in both Korea and Japan, with a sneak peek of the program scheduled to air during this year’s Chuseok holiday on TV Chosun.
