Late-night television host Stephen Colbert recently addressed BTS SUGA’s drunk driving incident on “The Late Show with Stephan Colbert.”

His humorous take on the issue which made headlines for nearly a month has received plenty of reactions.

On October 16, he addressed the incident in one of the segments of the show, *What’s Going On Over Here?”

BTS’ SUGA was involved in an electric scooter incident in Seoul’s Yongsan-gu on August 6 at 11:10 PM KST. After falling near Nine One Hannam, riot police administered a breathalyzer test, which showed a blood alcohol level of 0.227%—above the legal limit. This resulted in license revocation and a 15 million won fine.

The “Snooze” rapper received massive backlash for drunk-driving the e-scooters. He was subjected to an intense media spotlight, blowing the incident out of proportion.

Weighing in on the controversy, Stephen Colbert joked saying, “Koreans need a license to drive one of these things (e-scooters). In New York, you will see them ridden down Broadway by a baby eating a turkey leg. That is… Good for you Korea.”

Following Stephen Colbert’s comment on The Late Show, public interest in BTS SUGA’s electric scooter incident has resurfaced. Many fans have revisited the controversy, noting that the extensive media coverage at the time not only amplified the incident but also shaped public perception.

On another note, BTS is set to reunite next year after completing their mandatory military service. Jin and J-Hope have already completed their active-duty service this year.
