The second member of NCT is temporarily stepping away from the military.
Jaehyun has begun his mandatory military service as an active-duty soldier today (November 4).
The 27-year-old singer is set to serve as a member of an Army band after completing the recruit training period.
On November 3, he shared photos ahead of the enlistment, revealing a buzz cut. This made many fans emotional as they would not see the “Smoke” singer participate in activities for 1 year and a half.
Due to safety concerns, he will begin his military service without a separate farewell event. He follows Taeyong, who is already serving in the naval band, as the second NCT 127 member to enlist.
Jaehyun shared a photo of himself with a shaved head on the eve of his enlistment, captioning it: “Reminiscing on the memories we’ve made, looking forward to the journey we’ll take.”
K-pop star Jaehyun, born in 1997, has had a remarkable journey since debuting in 2016. As a member of NCT, he has been part of several sub-units, including NCT U, NCT 127, and NCT DOJAEJUNG. This summer, he made his solo debut with the full-length album “J,” followed by the single “Unconditional” on October 24.
In other news, he recently connected with fans at his sold-out fan concert “Mute,” held at Seoul’s Olympic Handball Stadium on October 26-27.
