After landing her first English-speaking role in Apple TV’s “Disclaimer” with Cate Blanchett, Jung Hoyeon is set to work with another Hollywood elite, Theo James.
The “Squid Game” fame will lead Director Kim Jee Won’s new thriller “The Hole” alongside James.
Based on Hye Young Pyun’s acclaimed 2017 novel, “The Hole” follows the story of Owen (Theo James), a professor recovering from a tragic car accident in South Korea that claimed his wife Sandy’s (Hoyeon) life. However, his recovery is put at risk when his mother-in-law Yuna discovers shocking secrets about their marriage and Owen’s true nature.
Based on Hye Young Pyun’s novel, the story delves into the dark themes of isolation, neglect, and loneliness. With Kim Jee Won’s direction, fans can expect intense emotions and suspense.
“The Hole” will be filmed across the U.S. and Korea next year in Korean and English language.
Kim Jee Won is known for directing many thought-provoking movies including “Cobweb,” “The Good, The Bad, The Weird,” “Illang: The Wolf of Brigade,” and more.
Jung Hoyeon ventured into acting with a breakout role in Netflix’s hit series “Squid Game” (Season 1).
She recently starred in Alfonso Cuarón’s psychological thriller “Disclaimer” with Cate Blanchett, which is set to wrap on November 15. She will soon appear alongside Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender in Na Hong Jin’s film “Hope.”
