K-pop artists sweep the 66th Japan Record Awards!
NewJeans, ILLIT, LE SSERAFIM, and TXT were honored at the prestigious award ceremony in Japan.
On November 21, a list of winners was announced on the official website of Japan Record Awards 2024.
NewJeans earned the prestigious Excellence Award at the 66th Japan Record Awards for their Japanese debut single, “Supernatural.” This honor recognizes the year’s top 10 songs that have resonated with the public and are loved for artistry, originality, and creativity.
Other Excellence Award winners include JO1, Da-iCE, Creepy Nuts, Mrs. Green Apple, Fruits Zipper, Junretsu, Omoinotake, and BE:FIRST.
As Excellence Award recipients, NewJeans is now a contender for the coveted Grand Prize, to be revealed on December 30.
ILLIT made history at the 66th Japan Record Awards, taking home the coveted Rookie of the Year award. Their addictive song “Magnetic” released in March shattered many records.
For the first time in 13 years, a K-pop girl group has claimed the Rookie of the Year title, with ILLIT following in the footsteps of legendary group 2NE1, who achieved this feat in 2011.
TXT was recognized as one of the most buzzworthy acts of the year, taking home the Special Award. Their comeback albums, “minisode3: TOMORROW” and “The Star Chapter: SANCTUARY, ” topped the Japanese charts. The group also embarked on its first Japan Dome tour this year.
LE SSERAFIM secured the Special International Music Award thanks to their impressive performance in the global music scene.
JO1 won the Excellence Award for “Love Seeker” at the Japan Record Awards 2024.
Established in 1959, the Japan Record Awards is a prestigious music ceremony presented by the Japan Composer’s Association. It airs live on TBS annually on December 30, celebrating the nation’s finest musical talents.
