The highly anticipated film with a star-studded cast lineup is off to a flying start, claiming the top spot at the box office on its opening day, December 24.

Figures from the movie ticketing system on December 25 revealed that “Harbin“, directed by Woo Min-ho, drew in 381,536 viewers on the first day.

Notably, it also surpassed the opening-day numbers of recent Korean blockbusters “12.12: The Day” and “Exhuma”, which both drew in over 10 million viewers. “12.12: The Day” attracted 219,445 moviegoers, whereas “Exhuma” topped with over 336,129 viewers on the first day.

Moreover, “Harbin” is holding a strong top spot in advance ticket sales following its historic opening.

In addition, it has secured the highest December opening for a Korean film since the COVID-19 pandemic began. It surpassed the viewership of “Avatar: The Way of Water” (359,787 viewers).

Following its release, the film has been gaining viewers through positive word of mouth. “Harbin” is set in 1909 and revolves around a group of individuals with a shared purpose in Harbin, who are pursued by others. The cast includes Hyun Bin, Jeon Yeo Been, Park Jeong Min, Jo Woo Jin, and more.
