K-pop groups IVE and SEVENTEEN’s unit Boo Seok Soon have postponed their upcoming comeback promotions in response to the recent Jeju Air plane crash tragedy. This decision follows a national outpouring of grief and condolences for the victims and their families.
The devastating airplane crash, which took place on December 29 at around 9 PM, took numerous lives.
PLEDIS Entertainment announced through their official channel, stating “The official photo upload schedule for BSS’ 2nd Single Album ‘TELEPARTY’, which was scheduled to be released today at 6 PM, has been postponed. We will notify you of the revised upload schedule later.”
They added, “We express our deepest condolences for the sad news and ask for your understanding.”
BSS was originally set to kick off promotions for their upcoming second single ‘TELEPARTY’ (releasing on January 8, 2025) with an album tracklist, highlight medley, and official teaser. The group has decided to postpone due to the recent passenger plane tragedy.
IVE, set to make a comeback in February 2025, has also made adjustments to their promotional schedule for their upcoming third EP album, ‘IVE EMPATHY’.
Starship Entertainment stated, “We regret to inform you that the promotional schedule for IVE’s 3rd EP, “IVE EMPATHY”, originally planned for December 29 and 30, has been postponed. We’ll announce the updated schedule at a later date and kindly ask for your understanding in this matter. We extend our deepest condolences to the victims and their bereaved families affected by the recent tragedy.”
A devastating plane crash occurred when Jeju Air Flight 7C2216 from Bangkok, Thailand crashed into the outer wall of the runway while landing at Muan International Airport around 9:07 am. The National Fire Agency reported a toll of 179 fatalities out of 181 passengers, with only 2 survivors.
In response, broadcasters postponed entertainment programming to focus on special coverage. The government has declared a national mourning period from today until January 4, and the entertainment industry is expected to suspend all activities.
