The 39th Golden Disc Awards was set to be a big night for K-pop fans, but unfortunately, the live broadcast has been canceled due to a tragic incident involving Jeju Air. While it’s disappointing for fans who want to experience the show live, there’s still good news!

They will be able to catch all the highlights and performances through streaming starting January 6.

The Golden Disc Awards issued a statement on December 31, offering condolences to the victims and families affected by the recent passenger plane crash. They announced that the live broadcast of the 39th Golden Disc Awards, originally set for January 4-5, would be replaced with a pre-recorded broadcast.

On January 3, Xports News reported that the 2025 Golden Disc Awards will be televised on JTBC in two parts: the first part airing at midnight on January 5 and the second part at 1:20 am on January 7.

While the live broadcast was canceled, the show will proceed as scheduled. Many K-pop acts departed for Japan today where the award ceremony will be held.

The digital music category, recorded on January 4, will air on JTBC at midnight on January 6. The album category, recorded on January 5, will follow at 1:20 am on January 7.

On December 29, a devastating plane crash occurred when a Jeju Air flight from Bangkok crashed into the outer wall of Muan Airport’s runway. Sadly, 179 of the 181 passengers lost their lives, excluding two crew members. The government subsequently declared a seven-day national mourning period, ending on January 4th.

Notably, the first day of the Golden Disc Awards ceremony (January 4) coincides with the final day of this national mourning period.
