The sudden passing of Korean actress Kim Sae Ron has left the entertainment industry in shock.
As fans and fellow celebrities mourn her loss, Kim Soo Hyun’s name has also been trending.
The “Kiss Sixth Sense” actress passed away on February 16 at the age of 24. The sad news coincided with the birthday of actor Kim Soo Hyun, with whom she was rumored to have a romantic relationship.
Kim Sae Ron was found dead at her home in Seoul’s Seongdong-gu district on February 16. A friend discovered her body around 5 p.m. and contacted the police. Authorities have found no evidence of forced entry or suspicious activity, and are currently investigating the cause of her death.
Kim Sae Ron was an artist under Gold Medalist, the talent agency the “Queen of Tears” actor co-founded. Kim Soo Hyun had just shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, thanking fans for a birthday gift right before the devastating news of Kim Sae Ron’s passing broke.
After a drunk driving incident in May 2022, the 24-year-old actress stepped back from the spotlight and eventually parted ways with Gold Medalist in December of that year.
Rumors of a romantic relationship between Kim Sae Ron and Kim Soo Hyun have resurfaced. Last March, Kim posted, then quickly deleted, a photo with Kim Soo Hyun on Instagram, fueling dating rumors.
Gold Medalist denied the rumors, saying the photo was from a past encounter while Kim Sae Ron was with the agency. On the other hand, she refused to comment on the dating rumors.
In May 2022, Kim Sae Ron was involved in a drunk driving accident in Seoul. Her blood alcohol level was 0.227%, exceeding the license revocation threshold. She was fined 20 million won in April 2023.
Following the incident, she attempted a comeback in the play “Dongchimi” but withdrew due to public backlash. Her final project, the movie “Guitar Man”, is set to release this year.
