SM Entertainment is drawing a line in the sand when it comes to rumors about their new girl group, Hearts2Hearts.
The 8-member girl group recently made their debut on February 24 with their first single album “The Chase”. Just a few days into their debut, false information and malicious content surrounding the members have been circulating online.
Their agency SM Entertainment is cracking down on false information and issued a stern warning to those spreading malicious content.
The label is preparing to take strong action to protect its members after a post accusing one member of bullying went viral.
On February 26, SM Entertainment released an official statement, stating, “We’ve confirmed that posts and rumors containing false information, malicious slander, and defamation regarding Hearts2Hearts are being posted and spread online. We have begun the process of taking legal action against this matter.”
The agency continued, “Creating and spreading unfounded rumors by manipulating false information or using unverified facts is a clear illegal act. We’ll take a strong stance against such illegal acts without any settlement or leniency.”
Hearts2Hearts is an 8-member girl group consisting of Carmen, Jiwoo, Yuha, Stella, Juun, A-Na, Ian, and Yeon. They debuted 5 years after the launch of aespa with “The Chase”. Their debut album sold over 200K copies on day one, becoming the second-highest 1st-day sales for a girl group debut album.
