The upcoming season will continue adapting the popular webtoon by Lee Dong Gun, focusing on Yumi’s blossoming career as a writer.

On May 13, TVING confirmed that “Yumi’s Cells” season 3 is happening with Kim Go Eun reprising the lead role.

The third season of the popular TVING original series “Yumi’s Cells” will present a fresh romance storyline. Kim Go Eun reprises her role as Yumi, now a successful star writer, but her cells are still stuck in their old ways. As she navigates an unpredictable new romance, her Cell Village goes into overdrive, sparking all sorts of reactions and emotions.

Kim Go Eun’s performance as Yumi is so iconic that it is hard to imagine anyone else in the role. She brought depth and nuance to the character that was just captivating. The actress was also recognized with the Best Actress award for her performance in season 1 at the Blue Dragon Awards.

Kim Go Eun expressed her gratitude and excitement, saying, “It’s an honor and a pleasure to continue Yumi’s story, which has been loved by many viewers. As an actress, playing one character for a long time is a meaningful and special experience.” She added, “I want to capture Yumi’s growth and various turning points in her life well in Season 3. Since it’s a journey that started with Yumi in 2021, I want to wrap it up well.”

The show’s clever storytelling, which blends Yumi’s everyday life with the quirky world of cells in her brain, was loved by Kdrama fans. Now, after a three-year wait, Season 3 is finally in the works, and fans are super excited to see what’s next for Yumi. Male leads for Season 1 and 2 were Ahn Bo Hyun and GOT7’s Jinyoung. There is no official confirmation on who will play Kim Go Eun’s love interest in Season 3.

The drama offered a fresh take on life, love, and growth through the main character’s inner cells. Its blend of live-action and 3D animation is innovative and visually engaging. It resonated with the audience by exploring relationships, careers, and self-discovery realistically.

Original director Lee Sang Yeob returns to helm the project alongside screenwriters Song Jae Jeong and Kim Kyung Ran.

Pre-production and filming for “Yumi’s Cells” are scheduled to begin in the coming months. TVING will air the third season in the first half of 2026.
