Moving proved to be Squid Game for Disney+, therefore, it was no shock that the superhero series was renewed for season 2.

Despite the overwhelming streaming numbers and open ending, there was no update on the Moving season 2 for over a year. This left many fans disappointed and wondering if they will ever get a prequel season.

Following the global success of Season 1, which became Disney+’s most-watched Korean original, here’s everything we know about the next chapter.

Key Details

  • Original Cast: Han Hyo Joo, Ryu Seung Ryong, Jo In Sung, Cha Tae Hyun, Go Youn Jung, Kim Jung Ah
  • IMDb Score: 8.4/10
  • Season 1 Release Date: August-September 2023
  • Network: Disney+

Moving Season 2 Confirmed

The highly-anticipated sequel to the Korean superhero series Moving was confirmed at the Disney+ APAC showcase in Singapore on November 21, 2024. K-drama stars gathered at Marina Bay Sands to highlight their upcoming releases on the streaming service.

During the event, the head of Walt Disney Company’s original content strategy for the APAC region, Carol Choi, confirmed Moving 2. She announced

We have begun developing Moving Season 2, working once again with writer Kang Full. As we are still in the very early stages, we will share more details in the future.

It was made clear at the showcase event that the superhero series “isn’t going to arrive any time soon”. The renewal of Moving Season 2 further expands Korean content on Disney+. Although it’s not the only K-drama announced, it remains the platform’s most popular Korean series. However, with writing just beginning, fans will have to wait a while for new episodes.

Moving 2 Cast

While the full cast list for Moving Season 2 has yet to be officially confirmed, several key characters from the first season are expected to return given the unresolved nature of their stories. Like many superhero narratives, the series has a large cast but keeps its focus on a core group of heroes and villains.

Though Season 1 gave closure for some characters, their lives as super-powered individuals are far from settled. Ryu Seung Ryong will likely reprise his role as Jang Ju Won, the former black ops agent now a doting father, while Go Youn Jung returns as his daughter, Jang Hui Soo, whose regenerative abilities have only begun to develop.

Lee Jung Ha’s character Kim Bong Seok, Hui Soo’s classmate and fellow powered teen, will likely reappear alongside Han Hyo Joo as his mother, Lee Mi Hyun.

The season 1 finale hinted at a much larger world of super-powered individuals, suggesting season 2 will introduce new characters while continuing the existing stories.

Creative Team

As per OSEN (April 16), Disney+’s Moving Season 2 begins pre-production next month with a new director: Kim Sung Hoon (Kingdom, A Hard Day). He replaces Season 1’s Park In Je, while original writer Kang Full will pen the script.

Moving Season 2 Release Date

The production team has begun preparations for Season 2, notifying main cast members about the project’s progress and director change. Pre-production will start this month, with filming scheduled to begin in March 2026.

Given that the cast will begin filming in early 2026, it is expected that Moving Season 2 will premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2027.

Though Season 1 ended with the superpowered families achieving temporary peace, the danger remains. North Korean operatives will likely renew their hunt for the gifted teens, while the parents’ past as former agents makes them targets too. Their hard-won normalcy won’t last.
