Smashing sales records is nothing new for SEVENTEEN as they have done it again with their new 10th-anniversary album, HAPPY BURSTDAY.
The album set a new record for the highest first-week sales by a K-pop act in 2025 on its release day. What others took weeks to achieve, SEVENTEEN’s new album achieved in a few hours of its release.
Dropped on their 10th debut anniversary (May 26), SEVENTEEN’s 5th full album, HAPPY BURSTDAY recorded 2,269,401 copies on release day, according to the Hanteo chart. This is their 4th highest first-day sales, only surpassed by FML (3,998,373), SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN (3,288,017), and SPILL THE FEELS (2,494,180).
The 13-member boy band now has 5 albums on the list of the top 10 highest first-day K-pop album sales of all time. HAPPY BURSTDAY is expected to cross the coveted three-million mark in the first week.
The album topped the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart, No. 2 on European iTunes, and reached #1 on the Top Album charts in 15 countries. On the other hand, the lead single, Thunder, topped the iTunes Top Song Chart in 13 regions.
In addition, Thunder performed exceptionally well on domestic charts, and topped Melon’s TOP100 chart. Other group songs from the album Bad Influence (Prod. Pharrell Williams) and HBD also charted on Melon TOP100.

he music video is getting a lot of attention, ranking 2nd on YouTube Korea’s “Most Popular Music Videos” right after its release. It’s also trending high in countries like Canada, the UK, and the US. Thunder MV has surpassed 14 million views within 18 hours of its release.
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN will begin promoting their newly released album, HAPPY BURSTDAY, followed by a new tour. The group will engage in various activities before taking a hiatus to fulfill mandatory military obligations. Two members, Jeonghan and Wonwoo, have already begun military service; the remaining members will join one by one.
