Cha Eunwoo is making sure his fans won’t feel his absence too deeply while he serves in the military. The ASTRO member has completed the filming of a Netflix series, a movie, and other projects to keep fans occupied for months.
Another exciting news came on Tuesday when it was reported that he is working on his September comeback.
On July 15, My Daily exclusively reported that Cha Eunwoo is now in the final stages of completing a new album. He wrapped up filming the music video in Korea last week and plans to release the album in September. His sophomore album will be released shortly after he begins his mandatory service on July 28 as part of the military band.
As per reports, the upcoming release will include two title tracks, giving fans plenty of new music to enjoy during his time away.
A member of ASTRO and a rising actor, Cha Eunwoo has steadily built his solo career. His first solo mini-album, ENTITY, released in February last year, sold over 210,000 copies in its first week. Its lead single, STAY, also attracted attention thanks to a striking music video featuring India Eisley, the daughter of iconic actress Olivia Hussey.
Last week, Cha held his last fan meeting before enlistment. Titled THE ROYAL, the event took place at Kyunghee University’s Peace Hall in Seoul. He spent precious time with fans, sharing memories and promising to return healthy and strong.
Besides music, the 28-year-old idol actor has two major acting projects lined up for fans to enjoy while he serves. In Netflix’s new comedy-thriller The WONDERfools, he plays Lee Woon Jeong, an honest but awkward civil servant in the fictional city of Haeseong.
Set in 1999, the series follows a group of locals who unexpectedly gain flawed superpowers and become entangled in strange disappearances and mysteries plaguing their town. The drama, which also stars Park Eunbin and Kim Hae Sook, wrapped filming in May and is expected to premiere later this year.
Cha Eunwoo will also make his big-screen debut as a lead in First Ride. Directed by Nam Dae Joong, the film follows four friends in their thirties who set out on their first trip abroad together. Alongside Kang Ha Neul, Kim Young Kwang, Kang Young Seok, and Han Sun Hwa, Cha’s character Yeon-min faces a series of funny yet touching moments during the trip.
As he prepares to enlist on July 28, Cha Eunwoo is leaving behind new music, a Netflix drama, and a film. Fans have plenty to look forward to until he returns.
