TWICE’s Chaeyoung will be stepping back from all activities for the rest of 2025 after being diagnosed with vasovagal syncope. JYP Entertainment shared the news on November 20, 2025, which immediately worried fans, since she had already missed several recent tour stops.

JYP explained that Chaeyoung “was recently diagnosed with vasovagal syncope” and that doctors advised her to rest. After more checkups and discussions, the company said it was clear she “needs further time for recovery,” which is why she will “temporarily pause her activities through the end of the year.”

The agency also noted that she will take part in upcoming schedules only in a very limited way and “may be absent from certain commitments.”

The company apologized to fans and confirmed that Chaeyoung will not be attending the This Is For world tour stops in Kaohsiung (November 22-23), Hong Kong (December 6-7), and Bangkok (December 13-14).

According to the statement, Chaeyoung feels “deeply disappointed” about missing the concerts and fan events. She also “expressed her sincere apologies” for being unable to participate in tour activities since October.

Vasovagal syncope is a condition that can cause sudden fainting because of a fast drop in heart rate and blood pressure. It isn’t new in the K-pop industry either. Recently, HyunA has dealt with a similar condition when she fainted on stage mid-performance.

Even with her health struggles, 2025 has been an important year for Chaeyoung artistically. She released her first solo album, LIL FANTASY Vol. 1, on September 12, and her solo stage In My Room became a highlight of TWICE’s concerts this year. Her fans looked forward to seeing more of her solo presence on tour, so the hiatus announcement hit especially hard.

Recently, she gave ONCE a little surprise by featuring on rapper Sokodomo’s song “Wake Up.”

Meanwhile, Chaeyoung’s break affects several of TWICE’s upcoming tour stops. Besides Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, and Bangkok, she had already missed Kuala Lumpur on October 25 and the Australian shows earlier in November. Despite her absence, the rest of TWICE will continue performing as eight members. Their world tour, which began in July 2025 in Incheon, will continue into June 2026, with North America and Europe scheduled for next year.

Once fans heard the news, social media immediately filled with messages of love and encouragement. Many ONCEs said her health should come before everything else, and phrases like “rest first” began trending worldwide.

Some fans also recalled how Chaeyoung once shared the tough moments from TWICE’s early years, when she said she often slept only one to three hours during promotions for songs like “Cheer Up” and “TT.” Because of that history, many fans feel especially protective now.

Fans questioned whether long tours and back-to-back activities are sustainable, especially when multiple TWICE members have dealt with health issues over the years. Still, many people see JYP’s decision as a positive step in putting Chaeyoung’s well-being first.
