YG Plus has announced a new collaboration between BLACKPINK and the global toy brand Tamagotchi. They revealed plans to launch the BLACKPINK Original Tamagotchi. On December 18, it was confirmed that the special edition device will be available for purchase through KakaoTalk Gifting starting December 23, 2025.
According to YG Plus, the BLACKPINK Original Tamagotchi is a pre-launch product that will be part of the official BLACKPINK X Tamagotchi collaboration line scheduled for a full release in 2026. The product is designed as a collectible device, with a strong focus on rarity and long-term collection value.
YG Plus further stated,
As BLACKPINK’s iconic brand power meets Tamagotchi’s retro sensibility, we expect it to expand beyond a simple toy into a collectible item. The pre-sale through a domestic platform will also contribute to expanding consumer touchpoints.
Tamagotchi’s renewed popularity plays a major role in the timing of this collaboration. In recent years, the brand has become popular due to the rise of retro, Y2K, and “kidult” trends, which appeal to adults who grew up with nostalgic products. Fan-driven demand has increased through offline pop-up events and limited-edition releases.
The collaboration with BLACKPINK comes as Tamagotchi celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026. Recent releases, including the Tamagotchi Paradise model launched in July, have performed well and helped fuel the brand’s revival.
Tamagotchi has also seen success with previous K-pop collaborations, such as themed versions created for BTS’s TinyTAN and Stray Kids’ SKZOO.
Together, BLACKPINK’s combined social media following exceeds 400 million. In 2025 alone, BLACKPINK collaborated with brands such as Google Maps, Fanatics and Complex for sports apparel, and the Paris Saint-Germain football club.
Previously, Lisa was seen personally using a Tamagotchi Paradise device at the 2025 Emmy Awards. Previously, she contributed greatly to popularizing Labubu plush toys.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is currently in the middle of its Deadline World Tour, which began in July 2025 and is scheduled to continue through January 2026. With no concerts scheduled for December, all four members are actively pursuing solo ventures under their own labels.
