Jin Ki Joo is preparing to return to the small screen with a new drama titled “Sleeping Doctor.” The 36-year-old actress has received an offer to lead the project and is currently reviewing it positively, as reported by SPOTV News on Friday.
“Sleeping Doctor” is a human romantic comedy that centers on two very different doctors who slowly heal each other. One is Hong Kyung, a talented psychiatrist admired by others but unable to fix his own emotional wounds. The other is Nam Ji Oh, a gifted doctor known as the “Hua Tuo of the hospital world.” This nickname is given to someone with an almost unreal ability to revive struggling hospitals.
The name Hua Tuo comes from a legendary Chinese physician famous for his extraordinary medical skills.
Jin’s agency, Basecamp Company, confirmed that she has received the offer and is carefully considering it. While her casting has not yet been officially finalized, discussions are moving forward. Casting for other roles is also underway, and the production team is currently adjusting the schedule. No broadcast channel or release date for “Sleeping Doctor” has been announced yet.
Last Year, Jin Ki Joo starred in the MBC drama “Undercover High School,” where she played Oh Soo-ah, a temporary teacher who deeply cares for her students. Her performance earned her the Top Excellence Award for Actress in a Miniseries at the 2025 MBC Drama Awards.
Jin Ki Joo has steadily built a wide-ranging career since her debut in 2015. Before acting, she worked as a journalist at an SBS regional station and later at Samsung SDS.
Her breakthrough came in 2018 with the drama “Misty,” where she played a rival anchor and earned a Best New Actress nomination. That same year, she landed her first leading role in “Come and Hug Me” and won a Best Couple Award with Jang Ki Yong. She also made her film debut in “Little Forest,” which brought her a Best New Actress award at the Chunsa Film Art Awards.
Since then, she has continued to show range through projects like “Homemade Love Story,” “My Perfect Stranger,” and “Uncle Samsik,” where she acted alongside veteran Song Kang Ho.
Looking ahead, she is already confirmed to star in the upcoming 2026 drama “True Lessons.”
