Rosé appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast and addressed the BLACKPINK disbandment rumors. A huge section of K-pop fans believes that BLACKPINK may not renew their contract with YG for the second time and disband after members have established successful solo careers.

The 28-year-old K-pop star spoke openly about what would happen if a member ever decided not to continue with the group. For the first time, she addressed the question directly, sharing her thoughts on the group’s philosophy and how they handle solo decisions.

She is the first from any BLACKPINK member who directly addresses what would happen if someone chose to step back. She made it clear that any decision would be respected and supported.

“When asked if one of us feels like at that time it is not the right thing, then we’d all understand,” Rosé said. She added, “Blackpink is like any relationship, if one member is not ready for something, then it should be respected.”

Rosé explained, “We’d never be able to neglect anyone’s decision at any time in their life, and we trust that every decision made is the right decision for each member.”

The ‘APT.’ singer said that the group’s small size—only four members—makes it even more important to respect each other’s choices. She described the members as “best friends,” “sisters,” and “family.”

These comments come at a key moment for BLACKPINK. The group had just finished their Deadline World Tour on January 26, 2026, after stadium shows across three continents. Their 10th anniversary is coming in August and their group contract renewal is also approaching. BLINKs have been closely watching for any hints about the future.

In December 2023, all four members renewed their contracts with YG Entertainment for group activities only. Each member now runs their solo projects through their own companies: Jennie with ODD Atelier, Lisa with LLOUD, Jisoo with Blissoo, and Rosé with THEBLACKLABEL. This setup gives them creative and financial independence while leaving long-term group plans open. Discussions about the group’s future will return later in 2026.

The members have also had major solo success. Rosé’s collaboration “APT.” with Bruno Mars spent 37 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned Grammy nominations. Lisa made her acting debut in The White Lotus and released her solo album Alter Ego. Jennie headlined Coachella as a solo artist and released her debut album RUBY. Jisoo completed an Asia tour and released successful solo music. Some reviews of the Deadline Tour noted that at times it felt like “four solo artists sharing a stage.”

Despite their solo work, BLACKPINK continues as a group as their third mini-album, DEADLINE, is set to drop on February 27. Rosé teased a “fun collaboration” on the album that fans have not yet heard. After promotions, a 10th-anniversary encore concert is expected in the summer of 2026.

The future of BLACKPINK is important not just for the members but also for YG Entertainment, which relies heavily on the group’s success.
