Netflix’s upcoming original series The WONDERfools, starring Park Eun Bin and Cha Eunwoo, is reported to be targeting a spring 2026 release. Some Korean media outlets say the date has been confirmed internally. However, Netflix has not officially announced an exact premiere date and continues to state that the series will be released in the second quarter of 2026.
On February 11, My Daily reported that the superhero drama The WONDERfools starring Park Eun Bin and Cha Eunwoo is targeting a May 15, 2026 release. The media outlet reported that the production team and Netflix held an internal discussion over its release schedule but ultimately decided to proceed as planned. It claims part of the series will be revealed around May 15, with a production presentation featuring the cast being rescheduled for May 12 and 13.
However, Netflix has not publicly confirmed these specific dates and has only maintained that the show will premiere between April and June 2026.
The WONDERfools is a superhero comedy action series set in 1999, a time when doomsday theories were widespread. The story follows a group of ordinary and clumsy neighbors in Haeseong City who suddenly gain superpowers after an unexpected incident. Despite their new abilities, they struggle to control them and must work together to stop a villain threatening the city’s peace.
The series is directed by Yoo In Sik, who previously worked with Park Eun Bin on the hit drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo, which is renewed for a follow-up season and an American remake.
Park Eun Bin plays Eun Chae No, a lively and chaotic character who becomes involved in the mysterious events. Cha Eun Woo appears as Lee Woon Jung, a principled civil servant investigating a string of unexplained disappearances. The supporting cast includes Kim Hae Sook, Choi Dae Hoon, Im Seong Jae, and Son Hyun Joo.
Ahead of the release, the project faced uncertainty due to allegations involving Cha Eunwoo. Last month, the National Tax Service reportedly notified him of additional income tax exceeding 20 billion won ($15 million). The issue centers on claims that a lower corporate tax rate was applied through a management service contract with a company established by his mother. The ASTRO member publicly apologized and promised that he would comply with all tax procedures.
There were rumors that the controversy and Cha Eunwoo’s current military service, which began in July last year, could lead to a delay. However, reports indicate the release plan has not changed.
Promotional activities are expected to be led mainly by Park Eun-bin and the supporting cast due to Cha’s enlistment.
For now, viewers can expect The WONDERfools to premiere in the second quarter of 2026. While May 15 remains a widely reported date, Netflix has said the official release schedule will be announced once it is finalized.
