(G)I-DLE’s second full-length album 2 is expected to be a massive hit, attracting a significant audience and achieving remarkable success in terms of sales and popularity.
(G)I-DLE’s highly anticipated album ‘2’ is set to release on the 29th at 6 PM. According to Cube Entertainment on January 24, the album has already garnered a staggering 1.8 million pre-orders. This number surpasses the 1.1 million pre-orders for their previous domestic release, the 6th mini-album I feel, which was released in May last year.
(G)I-DLE’s 1.8 million pre-orders for their second full-length album 2 is tied for second place in the history of K-pop girl groups. The highest number of pre-orders, 2 million copies, was achieved by BLACKPINK in 2022 for their second full-length album, Born Pink.
Currently, aespa’s 3rd mini album MY WORLD is also holding second place with 1.8 million pre-orders.
With (G)I-DLE’s comeback just 5 days away, there’s still potential for the final count of pre-orders to grow even more. This also sets the stage for them to achieve million-seller status once again, following the success of I feel.
It’s worth mentioning that I feel made an impressive debut on the US Billboard main album chart, the Billboard 200, ranking at 41st.
It’s exciting to see how (G)I-DLE will perform on the Billboard 200 with their upcoming album 2. They’ve been making quite an impact in the North American market since last year.
Their first American EP, HEAT, which was released in October, did incredibly well, reaching the 25th spot on the ‘Billboard 200’ and marking a ‘career-high’ for them on that chart.
On the other hand, (G)I-DLE is nominated in the Best Group/Duo category for the iHeart Music Awards 2024.
